Patti is a Vocalist, Vocal Coach, Songwriter, Performer, Theater Director and Improvisational Singer.
She is a ‘natural’ singer with and understanding of our profound need to express ourselves through our voice. Her own journey into Improvisational Singing has developed over a lifetime of creating melodies, invented language and performing, eventually venturing into jazz and ’scat’ singing.
In 2004 she attended a workshop on “Spontaneous Invention” with Bobby McFerrin and the horizon of vocal improv expanded . In 2008 completed ”All The Way In”, a master class with internationally recognized Master of Improvisation, Rhiannon and returned in 2010 to a regathering with other singers from "All The Way In" classes.
Patti leads workshops in Circle Singing, Singing Vigil and Singing The Awakened Heart as well as Circle Sings and coaches individual students.
In addition to performing as a jazz vocalist, Patti is a member of The Songsisters along with Sue Fink, Amy Dixon-Kolar and Claudia Anderson, combining talents and sharing harmonies and ideas on stage.
Circle Singing also known as Improvisational Singing, can be combined with other expressive art forms. The following clip is from a benefit event titled “Life As Improv - The Sweet Spot At The Aquatorium” - June 6th, 2010 combining the efforts of Circle Singers from Kalamazoo, Michigan and Northwest Indiana and Dancers from the South Shore Dance Alliance.
