Jazzdakini

Lest I take myself too seriously - please know that I realize many of you are thinking "Jazzbikini" ? "JazzZucchini"?!?!.....

No - that's not it...

Jazzdakini is my term for an expression of the spirit through jazz vocals.

In the Tibetan tradition a 'dakini' is a female spirit or "sky-dancer" and in at least one interpretation the root of the word means "to beckon with sound".

For me singing has always been the truest, most honest way in which I can express myself and the 'in the moment' - ever-molten reality of jazz has become my favorite ride.

What Fun!

I got to sing at Orchestra Hall in Chicago with Bobby McFerrin and Jack DeJohnette (a whole eight bars - but it still was a great "high"!)
